Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 30.09.2026
1. About LeafU
LeafU is a notes and ideas application that can be used locally on your device without a paid subscription. Optional subscription features allow you to sync your LeafU content across supported devices.
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") apply when you use the LeafU iOS app, leafu.org website, create a LeafU account, or purchase a LeafU subscription.
LeafU is provided by Anna Volovik, trading as LeafU.
Email: contact@leafu.org
Address: [UK business correspondence address]
By using LeafU, you agree to these Terms.
2. Using LeafU
You can use LeafU without creating an account or purchasing a subscription. In this case, your LeafU content is stored locally on your device.
Some features require an account or paid subscription. The features included with a subscription will be described before you subscribe.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity carried out through your account.
You must not use LeafU unlawfully or attempt to interfere with the operation or security of the service.
3. Your Content
Your notes and other content you create using LeafU belong to you. LeafU does not claim ownership of your content.
If you use a subscription that includes syncing, you give us permission to store, process and transmit your content only as necessary to provide and operate the syncing service.
You are responsible for the content you create and store using LeafU and for ensuring that your use of LeafU does not violate applicable law or the rights of others.
Syncing your LeafU content makes it available across supported devices, but it should not be treated as your only backup. We recommend keeping appropriate copies of information you cannot afford to lose.
Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.
4. Accounts
Creating a LeafU account does not automatically upload or sync your locally stored LeafU content.
Unless you have an active subscription that includes syncing, your LeafU content remains stored locally on your device.
You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep your login details reasonably secure.
5. Subscriptions and payment
The price, billing period, features included with your subscription, and any free trial will be shown to you before you subscribe.
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel them.
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. LeafU does not receive or store your full payment card details.
If we change the price of your subscription, we will notify you in advance. A price change will not take effect without giving you an opportunity to cancel before you are charged the new price.
6. Free trials
We may offer a free trial when you first subscribe to LeafU. The length of the trial and the price that will apply afterwards will be shown before you subscribe.
You will not be charged the subscription fee during the free trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your paid subscription will begin automatically at the end of the trial and the payment method you provided will be charged the price shown when you subscribed.
You can cancel during the free trial to avoid being charged.
7. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel your subscription at any time.
If you cancel during a free trial, you will not be charged.
If you cancel after your paid subscription has started, your subscription and syncing will normally remain available until the end of your current paid subscription period. You will not be charged for another billing period.
If you change your mind within 14 days of your first subscription payment, you can contact us at contact@leafu.org to receive a full refund.
After this period, payments are generally non-refundable. However, if you believe you have been charged incorrectly or there are exceptional circumstances, please contact us and we will be happy to review your request.
Nothing in these Terms affects any cancellation, refund or other rights you have under applicable consumer law.
8. What happens when your subscription ends
When your subscription ends, syncing will stop and your synced LeafU content will be deleted from our active systems.
Content stored locally on your devices will not be deleted.
If you subscribe again later, your locally stored LeafU content may be synced again as part of the syncing service.
Information may remain temporarily in routine backups after deletion, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
Your LeafU account may continue to exist after your subscription ends unless you choose to delete it.
9. Changes to LeafU
We may update LeafU from time to time, including adding, changing or removing features where reasonably necessary to develop, maintain or secure the service.
We may also need to temporarily suspend parts of LeafU for maintenance, security, technical reasons or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
If we make a significant change that materially affects a paid subscription, we will provide reasonable notice where practicable.
10. Availability, data and our responsibility
We take reasonable care in providing LeafU, but we cannot guarantee that LeafU will always be available, uninterrupted or free from errors.
LeafU's subscription includes features that allow your content to be synced across supported devices. Syncing is not intended to be a guaranteed backup service, and you should keep appropriate copies of information that you cannot afford to lose.
We are not responsible for loss or damage caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, such as failures of your device, internet connection or third-party services that are outside our control.
Where we are responsible for loss or damage, we are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
LeafU is provided for personal use. We are not responsible for business losses, such as loss of profits, revenue or business opportunities, arising from your use of LeafU as a consumer.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, or affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
11. Ending or suspending access
You can stop using LeafU at any time.
We may suspend or terminate access to an account where reasonably necessary, for example if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, misuse the service, attempt to compromise its security, or use it unlawfully.
Where appropriate, we will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue before terminating access.
If we discontinue a paid LeafU service, we will provide reasonable notice where possible and will refund any prepaid subscription amount relating to a period during which the paid service is no longer available.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example when LeafU changes, when we introduce new features, or when legal requirements change.
If a change materially affects your rights or an existing paid subscription, we will provide reasonable notice before the change takes effect.
The latest version of these Terms will be available on the LeafU website.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the United Kingdom or another country, you may also have rights under mandatory consumer laws that apply where you live.
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under applicable consumer law.
